The Cleveland Browns are a team that will likely be very aggressive this offseason in their pursuit of competing for a Super Bowl. After an impressive season last year, there is even more reason to be aggressive. One name to keep a close eye on could be veteran defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh.

While the Browns have a ton of talent on both sides of the football, they could use some help against the run. They need to find a way to plug up the middle of their defense. Suh would be exactly the kind of piece that could help them do that.

A former NFL executive, who requested to remain anonymous, spoke to NFL Analysis Network about the Browns’ potential interest in Suh.

“I think there is one guy out there on the D-Line that would be a good fit for the Browns. Ndamukong Suh is an instant upgrade for anyone that brings him in. He can help against the run, get to the quarterback, and simply wreak havoc everywhere on the field. The Browns want those qualities and I think they’ll be in on Suh when free agency opens.”

Suh is coming off of a Super Bowl winning season with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He was a key part of their defense and the Bucs would love to have him back. However, a team like the Browns could swoop in and steal him away.

During the 2020 season with Tampa Bay, Suh racked up 44 total tackles, six sacks, one forced fumble, and two defended passes. He was a force to be reckoned with and help make the Buccaneers one of the most feared defenses in the NFL.

Even at 34 years of age, Suh is an intimidating force on the defensive line. He stands in at 6-foot-4 and 313 pounds and is as strong as anyone in the league. Suh would be a very good addition for the Browns.

Baker Mayfield and the offense showed flashes of brilliance in 2020. If they can continue that forward in 2021 and improve their defense, they are going to be a strong contender in the AFC. Pursuing Ndamukong Suh could be exactly what their defense needs to get to the next level.

Expect to see the Browns look to be active this offseason. They are a borderline contender already and will do everything they can to vault themselves into Super Bowl contention this season.
