Potential Growth from Baker Mayfield

Not all growth is linear, and that may very well be the case for Baker Mayfield. After setting the single-season NFL record for most touchdown throws (27) by a rookie, he followed it up with a disappointing 2019 campaign. The question is, will he bounce-back in 2020?

Overall, it was quite a disappointing season for the Mayfield. He trailed only Jameis Winston in interceptions with 21 and threw just 22 touchdown passes. As one might expect, Odell Beckham Jr. experienced lesser results as Mayfield failed to build off his strong rookie campaign.

Heading into the 2020 season, Mayfield is entering a far more favorable situation. The Browns made upgrades at both tackle positions, added Austin Hooper to provide another intriguing receiving threat, and most importantly, now are led by head coach Kevin Stefanski.

It appears more likely than not for Mayfield to experience a strong bounce-back season when considering the circumstances. As a result, it’s difficult to envision Beckham not experiencing improvement in his production in conjunction with Mayfield.
