Bills Could Potentially Cut Former All-Pro Cornerback

The Buffalo Bills have a miserable salary cap situation heading into the offseason, meaning they will be forced to make some tough decisions.

That could include cutting cornerback Tre’Davious White.

According to Joe Buscaglia of The Athletic, cutting White would save the Bills about $6 million in cap room. While that isn’t a whole lot, Buscaglia also notes that White’s durability concerns could play a major role in Buffalo’s decision.

White tore his Achilles four games into this past season, marking the second time in three years he suffered a major injury. Back in 2021, he tore his ACL.

Over the last three years, White has played in a grand total of 21 games, so as terrific as he is when he is healthy, he has not been on the field much.

Given how badly the Bills need to open up cap space, releasing White may be something they have to do, even if it will only save them a little bit of money.

White, who played his collegiate football at LSU, was selected by Buffalo with the 27th overall pick of the 2017 NFL Draft.

He immediately flashed his potential during his rookie campaign, finishing second in Defensive Rookie of the Year voting after registering 69 tackles, four interceptions and 18 passes defended.

The 29-year-old would eventually make back-to-back trips to the Pro Bowl in 2019 and 2020, earning a First-Team All-Pro selection in the former year after leading the league with six picks.

Since then, however, injuries have defined White’s career, and now, his run with the Bills may be coming to a rather swift and disappointing end.
