Bills’ GM Doesn’t Hold Back On Stefon Diggs

It was a strange season for Buffalo Bills wide receiver Stefon Diggs.

Diggs got off to a torrid start in 2023, logging five 100-yard performances over his first six games. That included a pair of 10-catch outings.

However, after that, Diggs did not have a single 100-yard game the rest of the season, and he totaled just three catches for 21 yards in the Bills’ Divisional Round playoff loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. He also dropped a deep ball from Josh Allen when the team was down 27-24 in the fourth quarter.

Diggs’ decline in production in the second half of the season has many wondering if Buffalo will trade the star wide out this offseason, but general manager Brandon Beane does not seem prepared to do that.

“He’s a No. 1 receiver. I firmly believe that. I’m not wavering off of that,” Beane said, via the Bills’ official YouTube account. “I think teams — Listen, we have to continue to put weapons out there to keep teams from bracketing him or locking him down in different ways to take him away. They know you’re gonna want to — Stef can still play. I’m sure he would love to have that deep ball again. He’d be the first to tell you. He’s super competitive. He’s going to work his tail off this offseason. I know there’s various reasons or questions on this, there’s production and all that, but I still see Stef as a No. 1 receiver.”

Buffalo initially acquired Diggs in a trade with the Minnesota Vikings back in March 2020, and in his debut campaign with the Bills, he led the NFL in both receptions (127) and receiving yards (1.535).

The 30-year-old made the Pro Bowl in each of his first three seasons with the club.

This season, Diggs caught 107 passes for 1,183 yards and eight touchdowns, but most of that production came during the first six weeks.

Apparently, Stefon Diggs is safe in Buffalo for now. That is, of course, unless he decides he wants something different.
