Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen threw for three touchdowns during his team’s blowout win over the New York Jets on Sunday afternoon, surpassing Kansas City Chiefs signal-caller Patrick Mahomes for the most total touchdowns over a player’s first six seasons (h/t Fox Sports).
Allen went 20-for-32 with 275 yards while carrying the ball five times for 15 yards in the 32-6 victory. He also threw one interception.
On the season overall, Allen has registered 2,875 yards and a league-leading 22 touchdown passes. He has also thrown 12 picks, which is the worst mark in the NFL, but he is completing a robust 69.6 percent of his throws while posting a passer rating of 97.6. Additionally, Allen has rushed for 261 yards and seven scores while averaging 4.9 yards per carry.
Allen, who played his collegiate football at the University of Wyoming, was selected by the Bills with the seventh overall pick of the 2018 NFL Draft.
Since 2020, the 27-year-old has established himself as one of the best quarterbacks in football, tallying at least 35 touchdown passes each year from 2020 through 2022 while also amassing 21 rushing scores in the process. He has made the Pro Bowl in two of his last three campaigns for his efforts.
Buffalo has been one of the NFL’s most frustrating teams this season, as it sits at just 6-5 and is one-and-a-half games behind the Miami Dolphins for first place in the AFC East.
The Bills entered 2023 with Super Bowl aspirations, but they have looked far too inconsistent to resemble a legitimate championship contender over their first 11 games.
Josh Allen and Co. have looked dominant at times, but there have also been stretches where they have looked confusingly beatable.
Luckily for Buffalo, there is still some time left in the season for it to get things together. However, on the flip side, the Bills are about to enter a brutal stretch of their schedule.
Buffalo will take on the Philadelphia Eagles and Kansas City Chiefs on the road each of its next two games (it has a Week 13 bye in between those two contests) before returning home to host the Dallas Cowboys on Dec. 17.
