Buffalo Bills QB Josh Allen Tip Toes Around Stefon Diggs Question

Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen and former Bills wide receiver Stefon Diggs seem to have had a bit of a strained relationship, particularly in the latter stages of their partnership.

They never had any public dustups, nor was there any evidence of severe tension between the two stars, but you could tell by reading the tea leaves that things weren’t exactly simpatico there.

Now, Diggs is with the Houston Texans, and Allen will have an almost brand new set of receivers to throw to in 2024.

Allen was asked about the departure of Diggs and if he misses the four-time Pro Bowler, and he kind of waffled back and forth when answering the question.

“Stef’s a great player, and what he brought to this team was special,” Allen said, via Michael David Smith of Pro Football Talk. “Miss? I don’t know if I’d say miss.”

Allen then went on to give Diggs his props and then sort of contradicted himself.

“He was a guy that was reliable, you can look to, he’s going to have the juice every day,” Allen said. “I’m sure he’s bringing it every day in Houston. So definitely. You can’t say you don’t miss that.”

So do you miss him, or do you not miss him?

Seems like Allen was trying to be as diplomatic as possible.

The Bills probably will miss Stefon Diggs in 2024

From a production standpoint, it’s hard to imagine the Bills not missing Diggs this year.

Say what you want about Diggs’ numbers falling off during the second half of 2023, but just his mere presence on the field helped open things up for Buffalo’s offense.

It’s also important to remember that the Bills didn’t just subtract Diggs. They also lost fellow wide out Gabe Davis to free agency, so Allen will enter 2024 without both of his top receivers from the year prior.

Buffalo did sign Curtis Samuel and Marquez Valdes-Scantling, and it selected Keon Coleman in the second round of the NFL Draft. Plus, Khalil Shakir is still on the roster, and tight ends Dalton Kincaid and Dawson Knox remain in tow.

That being said, it’s difficult to replace what Diggs brought to the table.

We’ll see how Josh Allen adjusts to life without Stefon Diggs come September.
