The NFL season is upon us. Like every team in the league, optimism is high for the Arizona Cardinals. They are flying under the radar this season, but the Birdgang believes the pieces are in place. Let’s take a look at their opener for Week 1.
Week 1 in the NFL is always filled with unknowns, for every team. Most have new players, coaches. The same can be said of the 2018 Arizona Cardinals. The Bruce Arians era is gone. No more “no risk it no biscuit” in the desert.
Rookie head coach Steve Wilks is now in control and will look to “retool,” not “rebuild” the Cardinals. He’s brought in a great coaching staff with veteran play caller Mike McCoy as offensive coordinator and also brought along with him former Panthers linebackers coach Al Holcomb to run the defense.
Albeit, there is a lot of new to the Cardinals this year, a few things have remained the same. They still have future Hall of Famer Larry Fitzgerald at wide receiver. Running back David Johnson is healthy and ready to go. And cornerback Patrick Peterson looks better than ever and will man a defense that has been one of the best the last half decade.
First on their plate, however, are the Washington Redskins at home in their newly named State Farm Stadium on Sunday.
Here are three bold predictions for the matchup.
