Defense Will Show Vast Improvement
Last season, the defense of the Arizona Cardinals was the very worst in total yards allowed per game at 402 ypg., putting them in the same category as the Detroit Lions, who allowed 400.4 ypg. with their defense.
One aspect of their game that will show improvement is quarterback sacks, because besides Chandler Jones with his 19 sacks last season, there is room for much improved play from the entire defense this season.
The boldest prediction for this Cardinals defense in 2020 is this … they will cut their ypg. by over 50 yards in 2020 and get to the 350 ypg. allowed in 2020, which is about average, but enough to help them allow fewer points and battle their way to the playoffs.
Rookie Isaiah Simmons — a 2020 first-round pick (eighth overall) — will help this defense improve at outside linebacker and no doubt make this a much-improved defense with his versatile play than it was a season ago.
