Michael Palardy, Punter
For a while, it appeared that the Panthers’ top performer would be their punter, which is not want you want to see. Thankfully for them, things turned out differently in the end.
With that said, punter Michael Palardy was a huge weapon for the Panthers on Sunday. Carolina punted on each of its first five possessions as the Eagles dominated time of possession through the first three quarters.
But Philadelphia had to work for its points, as Palardy pinned the Eagles inside the 20-yard line three times and forced them to start at their own 25 with a touchback on another punt. The third-year pro averaged 41.8 yards per punt, with a long of 54.
It’s always a plus when you have a punter who can pin the other team deep. And that is exactly what Palardy was able to do time after time on Sunday.
Right now, it’s looking like the Panthers were geniuses for giving the 26-year-old to a three-year contract extension earlier this month.
