Donte Jackson Will Lead the Panthers in Interceptions

It’s no secret the Panthers have one of the league’s top defensive units, led by former NFL Defensive Player of the Year and five-time Pro Bowler Luke Kuechly at middle linebacker. Carolina has possessed one of the game’s most fearsome front-sevens for several years now, but a rookie cornerback will steal the show in 2018.

A few years ago, the Panthers had a young cornerback by the name of Josh Norman. Now a member of the Washington Redskins, Norman was known for both his braggadocious attitude and his ability to lock down opposing wide receivers.

This year, Carolina drafted another loquacious cornerback who enjoyed a stellar career at LSU when it selected Donte Jackson in the second round of April’s NFL draft. Jackson has already been compared to Norman thanks to his strong play during training camp, but he will carry that high level of play into the regular season as well.

In 2018, Jackson will alleviate many of the Panthers’ concerns about their beleaguered secondary. Not only will he become known as a lockdown defender, but he will also lead the team in interceptions.

Another rookie to keep an eye on is wide receiver D.J. Moore, who was the Panthers’ first-round pick. He will also turn some heads during the upcoming season. However, it is Jackson who will prove to be Carolina’s best rookie and one of its top defensive players.
