Carolina Panthers listed as a potential landing spot for Josh Norman

The Carolina Panthers are entering an interesting offseason as the team searches for a way to get back into playoff contention. Unfortunately, they saw superstar linebacker Luke Kuechly opt for an early retirement. They also parted ways with veteran tight end Greg Olsen.

Things are going to look a lot different for the Panthers in 2020. However, Cam Newton seems to be a good bet to come back as the starting quarterback for at least one more season.

New head coach Matt Rhule is an offensive-minded coach, but the defense will need to be improved. That is where they could look to free agency for help.

CBS Sports has an intriguing potential free agency target for the Panthers to take a look at. They have listed the Panthers as one of the top potential landing spots for free agent cornerback Josh Norman, who had a very successful stint with Carolina earlier in his career.

Maybe we see an NFL swap, with Norman’s release by Rivera not only opening the door for a reunion between the coach and Bradberry in Washington, but also reopening a window for Norman and the new-look Panthers to have a discussion.

Norman put together a solid season in 2019 with the Washington Redskins despite an up-and-down role. He went from a starter to being benched towards the end of the year. Despite the drama, he ended up with 40 tackles, one sack, one forced fumble, one interception, and six defended passes in 12 games.

Those numbers show that Norman still has a lot of good football left in him. Why not go back to where it all started and help turn the Panthers back into a contender?

Expect to hear plenty of rumors surrounding the Panthers this offseason. Carolina may not end up signing Norman, but it is a pairing that would make a lot of sense.
