CBS Sports predicts the Patriots will trade out of the first round of the NFL Draft

The New England Patriots are entering one of the most interesting offseason periods that they have had in quite some time. After years of being expected to be at the top of the league, they are in danger of losing superstar quarterback Tom Brady in free agency.

Bill Belichick and company would have some tough decisions to make if Brady did walk in free agency. They could turn to a guy like Philip Rivers, or sign a younger quarterback like Jameis Winston or Teddy Bridgewater. One thing that no one knows what to expect from the Patriots is their game plan for the 2020 NFL Draft.

At this point in time, the Patriots hold the No. 23 overall pick in the first round. CBS Sports has predicted that the team will end up trading that pick and moving out of the first round in their latest mock draft.

The most surprising part of this entire situation is that they made the trade to allow the Indianapolis Colts to move back up to No. 23 for Utah State quarterback Jordan Love.

Indianapolis would be moving the No. 34 overall pick to the Patriots in this trade, along with the No. 75 overall selection. Those picks would give New England more assets to make moves with or take young talent with.

Needless to say, this would be an interesting trade between two rivals who have never liked each other. Some fans in New England would not like this move. Others would view it as another Belichick way to continue adding young talent and remaining relevant long-term.

All of that being said, the Patriots are going to be a fun team to keep an eye on. If Brady leaves, anything could end up happening.
