The Los Angeles Rams missed the playoffs in 2019 after making it all the way to the Super Bowl the year previous. It was a rough season for Sean McVay and company. Unfortunately, there is a good chance that they will need to make some moves with their roster this offseason.
Todd Gurley is one player who is starting to see his name mentioned in rumors with the offseason about to heat up. He had an up-and-down role with the team in 2019. Now, it appears that a move could be in his future.
CBS Sports has made the bold prediction that the Rams will end up trading their star running back this offseason.
You have to think that Los Angeles would be willing to dump Gurley’s contract if they could find a trade partner, and although it won’t be easy, this might be the offseason to do it.
They also mentioned some potential trade destinations for Gurley should the Rams choose to move him this offseason.
The reason we could see it happen this offseason is because there’s a lot of teams out there that could use a running back that also happen to be flush with cap space with the Dolphins ($88.1 million), Buccaneers ($79.9 million) and Texans ($61.3 million) at the top of the list.
Gurley ended up carrying the football 223 times for 857 yards and 12 touchdowns last season. He also caught 31 passes for 207 yards and two touchdowns. Those numbers show that he still has some football left in the tank.
At just 25 years old, Gurley is still in his prime. Even with the concerns surrounding his knee issues, teams are going to come calling about trades.
Expect to see the Rams explore the trade market for Gurley this offseason. They may not end up moving him, but no one should be shocked if they do.
