Chicago Bears: 3 Goals for WR Allen Robinson in 2018

Return to No. 1 Receiver Production

Allen Robinson was signed with the hopes that he can recreate his 2015 season with the Jaguars. During his sophomore season in Jacksonville, Robinson was a terror for opposing secondaries. He was eighth in the entire NFL with 151 targets, which was good for a 24.9 percent target share on the Jaguars. He finished the season with 80 receptions for 1,400 yards and a league-high 14 touchdowns.

Expecting Allen Robinson to replicate those types of numbers in his first season coming off a serious knee injury would be a little premature. However, we can look at the Kansas City Chiefs offense from last season to get a general idea of what to expect in 2018.

Tyreek Hill was the clear-cut No. 1 receiver for the Chiefs last season and out of all the targets to wide receivers, tight ends, and running backs he was targeted 105 times out of the available 527. This puts him at a 19.9 percent target share for the season which resulted in 75 receptions for 1,183 yards and seven touchdowns. If we take the production from Robinson’s best season in Jacksonville, and Hill’s production from last year we end up with 128 targets, resulting in 78 receptions for 1,291 yards, and 11 touchdowns. Robinson has the talent to achieve these types of numbers, and if he’s able to it would immediately give the Bears their best receiver since Alshon Jeffery.
