Chicago Bears: 5 Reasons They Can Win Super Bowl 53

Joe Camporeale-USA TODAY Sports

1. Defense

As everyone knows defense wins championships.

Like we saw several years back with the Denver Broncos, a defense can single-handedly carry a team to the Super Bowl. Is this Bears defense capable of doing just that? You bet.

With stars at every level, the Bears have one of, if not, the most stacked defenses in the league. Akeim Hicks and Khalil Mack destroy offensive linemen on a play-by-play basis while Leonard Floyd, Danny Trevathan, and Roquan Smith patrol the next level. Add in Adrian Amos, Kyle Fuller, and Bryce Callahan in the secondary and just like that, you have a dominant defense. Having that kind of talent on every level is borderline unfair, and the Bears know it.

They are all in on this defense, and so far, the defense is paying dividends. The Bears defense is currently fifth in overall yards per game and third in rushing yards per game. Yeah, that’s pretty good.

Also, the Bears rank fourth in scoring, conceding less than 20 points per game at 19.4. And if you don’t believe the stats, turn on a Bears game and watch. Their defense flies around the field with intensity and discipline; it indeed is fun to watch.

If they keep playing at this level, there is no question that the defense can carry the team to the Super Bowl, and put them in a position to win. If they get to the Super Bowl, this Bears defense could take over the game and seal a championship for the Windy City.
