Chiefs: 3 late free agency targets Kansas City should consider

Ken Blaze-USA TODAY Sports

Cameron Wake

Last offseason, after a remarkable 10 seasons with the Miami Dolphins, Cameron Wake joined the Tennessee Titans in free agency. However, things didn’t pan out for Wake in Tennessee, making it evident that he wasn’t an ideal fit for the Titans’ defensive scheme.

In his lone season with the Titans, Wake would record a career-worst 2.5 sacks and 11 quarterback hits. Given that he wasn’t a match for Tennessee’s defense, the Titans released Wake, making him an unrestricted free agent this offseason.

There’s no doubt that at 38 years old, Wake is no longer the All-Pro edge rusher he once was. Despite his numbers from a season ago, Wake still has something left in the tank and can be a valuable complementary piece for a defense. For the Chiefs, he’d be a cheap option and he’d give them a much-improved pass-rushing unit that already features Frank Clark and Alex Okafor.
