Special teams still a strength

After Tyreek Hill took the first punt of the game to the house, it became overly apparent that the Chiefs special teams unit continues to be, well, special. There may not be a faster player in the league than Hill, and he showed it both returning punts as well. Add in De’Anthony Thomas recording an average of 16.5 yards on two kickoff returns and the Chiefs returners had very solid days.

Returning isn’t the only facet of special teams, however. Kicker Harrison Butker and punter Dustin Colquitt both had stellar games as well.

Butker hit on his only field goal attempt from 46 yards out and was true on all five of his extra point attempts. On the other side, Colquitt had several great punts. His five punts led to an average of 51.2 yards, with three of them landing inside the 20-yard line.

Clearly big things are in store for the Chiefs special teams unit this season.
