The Kansas City Chiefs are hosting the Chicago Bears in Week 3 in a game that even the most diehard football fans will have trouble getting excited about. Oddsmakers don’t believe the game is going to be close, as the Chiefs have been installed as huge 12.5-point favorites; the largest spread of the week.

Oddsmakers don’t expect a very close game and it is easy to see why. The Bears are 0-2 and have looked just as bad as they did last season, riding a 12-game losing streak overall. While the Chiefs haven’t fired on all cylinders yet this season, Chicago’s defense is exactly what the doctor ordered when it comes to fixing offensive woes.

But, there is some history that is going to be made when the two teams take the field on Sunday afternoon. The quarterback matchup of Patrick Mahomes for the Chiefs and Justin Fields for the Bears is one that has never been seen in NFL history.

This will be the first time that a quarterback who threw for at least 5,000 yards in the previous season faces off against a counterpart who ran for at least 1,000 yards. On top of that, it will be the first time since the 1970 merger that the quarterback with the highest winning percentage faces off against the quarterback with the lowest.

25 games was used as the minimum for the winning percentage, as Mahomes has led the Chiefs to victory in 79.3 percent of his starts. Fields and the Bears are on the opposite end of the spectrum, winning only 18.5 percent of their games and going 5-22.

The trajectory of these franchises was changed forever in the 2017 NFL Draft. With the No. 2 pick, the Bears selected Mitchell Trubisky out of North Carolina. Mahomes went 10th overall after the Chiefs made a move up the board in a trade with the Buffalo Bills. Now they are set to face off as Kansas City looks to continue getting on track and Chicago looks to avoid a dreaded 0-3 start.
