Winning consecutive Super Bowls was no small feat for the Kansas City Chiefs. Despite facing challenges such as leading the league in drops among receivers, quarterback Patrick Mahomes clinched his third Super Bowl MVP award.

Looking forward to the next season, Mahomes is already eyeing a rare three-peat. However, Kansas City recognizes the need to bolster their wide receiver corps. While Rashee Rice has emerged as a promising talent, the Chiefs may further strengthen their roster by drafting another young receiver in the upcoming 2024 NFL draft.

ESPN speculates that the Chiefs are poised to acquire a significant weapon from the Cincinnati Bengals in the upcoming offseason.

“The Chiefs will add a veteran possession receiver to their struggling receiving corps by signing free agent Tyler Boyd away from the rival Bengals.”

Spotrac.com estimates Boyd’s market value at a lucrative three-year, $26 million contract. However, Boyd may prioritize the opportunity to catch passes from Mahomes over maximizing his earnings.

Ideally, the Bengals would retain Boyd in Cincinnati. However, with quarterback Joe Burrow recently signing a monumental 5-year, $275 million deal and extensions looming for Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins, retaining Boyd may prove challenging.

Despite being moved down the depth chart after the Bengals drafted Chase and Higgins, the 29-year-old receiver remained a vital component of their offense. Over the past two seasons, Boyd amassed impressive statistics with 125 receptions for 1,429 yards and 7 touchdowns.

Acquiring Boyd would significantly enhance the Chiefs’ offense, aligning with their priority to provide Mahomes with more weapons this offseason.
