Jimmy Smith, Cornerback, Baltimore Ravens
Finally, the Chiefs could look for more veteran help in the secondary and The Athletic thinks they will sign Jimmy Smith. Here is their reasoning for Kansas City signing Smith this offseason.
Kansas City goes the vet route and signs Smith to a one-year deal in hopes that he can give them competent play as an outside corner in 2020 even though he’ll be 32.
Smith played in just nine games for the Ravens last season. He compiled 30 total tackles to go along with one sack, one interception, and six defended passes. Those numbers don’t pop off the charts, but they aren’t bad for what his role was.
Kansas City would be wise to check in and see how much a year of Smith would cost them. He could come in and provide top-notch depth and the ability to come in and start immediately. Smith could be a game-changer int he short-term for the Chiefs’ defense.
