Chiefs: What to expect from superstar QB Patrick Mahomes in 2020

Patrick Mahomes is without question the best quarterback currently playing in the NFL. After leading the Kansas City Chiefs to a Super Bowl win last season, any questions about that have been erased. He has completely solidified himself as the face of the NFL at this point in time.

Now that he has won a Super Bowl, the expectations could not be higher for Mahomes in 2020. Kansas City is being viewed as having a good chance to repeat as champions. Those expectations are tough to live up to, but Mahomes gives the Chiefs as good of a chance as any player could.

During the 2019 season with the Chiefs, Mahomes ended up completing 65.9 percent of his pass attempts for 4,031 yards, 26 touchdowns, and just five interceptions. He did miss two games due to injury, but still came through with a massive season.

Now, ESPN has released their projections for what kind of season Mahomes will have in 2020. Of course, the projections are huge and would put Mahomes in a position to win the NFL MVP award and lead the Chiefs to an extremely successful season.

Those projections have Mahomes completing 65.1 percent of his passes for 4,436 yards, 33 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions. The only negative in the projections are his interception numbers rising from five to 10.

Kansas City has to feel good about the offense they have put together around Mahomes. Tyreek Hill is one of the top receivers in the game and Travis Kelce is arguably the best tight end in the NFL. The Chiefs also went out and drafted running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire to help take some pressure off of Mahomes.

Everything is looking good for Kansas City and they are still building a better roster. The goal of repeating as Super Bowl champs is certainly possible.

All of that being said, expect to see Patrick Mahomes come out and put together yet another huge season. He may end up surpassing some of the projections in this article, but one thing is for sure, and that is the fact that no defense can stop him and he will dominate the NFL once again in 2020.
