There were a lot of questions about whether or not the Kansas City Chiefs would be able to keep up their torrid offensive pace without Tyreek Hill in the lineup. Hill was traded to the Miami Dolphins during the offseason for a boatload of draft picks and he has continued dominating secondaries on South Beach.

However, the demise of the Chiefs’ offense has proven to be false. In fact, Kansas City is not only thriving but it could be argued that they are playing at a high level this season than in previous seasons with Hill in the mix.

Having Patrick Mahomes under center certainly helps as he looks destined to take home another MVP award this season. The Chiefs’ passing offense can beat you in a number of ways as Mahomes is spreading the ball around to a deep, talented group of pass catches that include JuJu Smith Schuster, Marquez Valdes-Scantling, Mecole Hardman, Justin Watson, Skyy Moore and Kadarius Toney.

But, the one constant that brings it all together is tight end Travis Kelce. Kelce has assumed the unquestioned No. 1 role in this passing offense as Mahomes’ go-to weapon. Despite turning 33 years old earlier in the season, Kelce looks like he is still in his prime as defenses have no answers on how to stop him.

The Cincinnati product has had some blow-up games this season, with his performance on Sunday Night Football against the Los Angeles Chargers being the most recent one. He caught six passes for 115 yards and three touchdowns.

That was the second time this season that Kelce has caught 3+ touchdowns in a game. According to NFL on CBS, that makes Kelce the first tight end since 1983 to record at least two games of 3+ touchdown receptions in a season.

The first time Kelce did it was in Week 5 against the Las Vegas Raiders. He caught seven passes for only 25 yards but scored four touchdowns, helping the Chiefs get a 30-29 victory over their AFC West rivals.

On the season for the Chiefs, Kelce has caught 69 passes for 855 yards and an NFL-high 11 touchdown receptions. The touchdowns have tied a career-high, which was set in 2020. He is well on his way to his seventh straight season with 1,000+ receiving yards as well as Kelce remains the best tight end in the NFL.
