The Kansas City Chiefs put together a great offseason, including signing big extensions with Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce, and Chris Jones. However, the biggest move of the offseason outside of the extensions was made in the 2020 NFL Draft. Kansas City took running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire in the first round.

Edwards-Helaire was a name that rose up draft boards throughout the process. He ended up being the first running back taken and rightfully so.

During the 2019 season with the LSU Tigers, Edwards-Helaire put up monstrous numbers. He carried the football 215 times for 1,414 yards and 16 touchdowns. In addition to his rushing numbers, he caught 55 passes for 453 yards and a score.

While the Chiefs were anticipating a dual-threat backfield of Edwards-Helaire and Damien Williams, they were caught off guard when Williams backed out of the season due to concerns about COVID-19. That has left them with Edwards-Helaire as their clear-cut starter.

All of that being said, let’s take a look at what the Chiefs should expect from Clyde Edwards-Helaire in his NFL debut tonight against the Texans.
