What To Expect From Clyde Edwards-Helaire In Week 1
Going up against the Houston Texans used to be a scary thing for opposing offenses to do. Unfortunately for the Texans, their defense isn’t close to what it used to be. There is still some talent, but the Chiefs should wreak havoc on them.
Edwards-Helaire may see some of his touches taken by Darrel Williams. Kansas City isn’t going to overwork their young back, but he is going to be a major impact player in Week 1.
Patrick Mahomes and the passing game will still take center stage. The Chiefs have a luxury of having explosive weapons all over the field for him. Tyreek Hill, Mecole Hardman, Travis Kelce, and Sammy Watkins are going to put on a show.
While the passing game will be explosive, the Chiefs are going to love what they see from their rookie running back. Edwards-Helaire is going to get a lot of touches and he will make the most of them.
It would be reasonable to expect around 75-85 rushing yards from the rookie. He should also score his first career rushing touchdown. But, he will also have a big role out of the backfield as a receiving back.
Kansas City will look to get him the ball and Edwards-Helaire will catch six passes for 40 yards and a score. The NFL is moving towards dual-threat running backs and that is exactly what the rookie out of LSU brings to the field.
Expect to see Clyde Edwards-Helaire live up to the hype in Week 1. The Texans will do everything they can to stop him, but the Chiefs got themselves a good one. Edwards-Helaire will show the future star potential that made him the No. 32 pick in the NFL Draft.
