Chris Jones trade: 5 teams who should pursue a deal for the Chiefs star

The Kansas City Chiefs caught the attention of the whole NFL world by giving franchise-quarterback Patrick Mahomes a 10-year contract extension. Their focus will surely shift to getting a deal done with pass-rusher Chris Jones.

It won’t be easy for the Chiefs to get a deal done with the potential implications of Covid-19 may have on the NFL salary cap in 2021. Making an additional substantial financial commitment could gridlock Kansas City, creating a difficult situation to navigate.

Adding further complication to the situation, Jones recently made it clear he could holdout in 2020 if he reach an agreement on a contract extension. Such a decision makes it more logical for the Chiefs to at least investigate what they could receive via trade for him.

Jones is coming off a 2019 season where he appeared in 13 games and totaled 36 combined tackles (eight for loss), nine sacks, 20 QB hits, four passes defensed, and one forced fumble. His presence was paramount in the Chiefs en route to a Super Bowl victory.

With taking all of that into consideration, let’s look at five NFL teams who should make an effort to trade for Kansas City Chiefs star Chris Jones.
