John Ross will have bounce-back sophomore campaign
Last season wasn’t an ideal start to John Ross’ young NFL career. The Long Beach native barely saw playing time, was a healthy scratch throughout the season, and the only stats he had was a lone rushing attempt for 12 yards. His head coach Marvin Lewis was criticized for Ross’ embarrassing rookie campaign.
The first round speedster showcased his talents at Washington where he was the nation’s best wide receiver in 2016 with 76 receptions, 1,122 yards, and 13 touchdowns. During last February scouting combine, Ross broke Chris Johnson’s nine-year-old 40-yard dash record with a 4.22 mark. Ross is a talented deep threat who has shown he can be a superstar in this league.
Like I wrote before, Cincinnati’s receiving corp is pretty bleak and there are many young faces in the group. Since the release of disgruntled receiver Brandon LaFell, the No. 2 wide receiver spot is open and it’s Ross for the taking.
