The Cleveland Browns have had a rough start to the 2022 NFL season. While it was expected due to the suspension of star quarterback Deshaun Watson, things just haven’t clicked thus far. Heading into Week 8, the Browns are 2-5 and are struggling to keep their head above water.
One of the main bright spots so far this season has been tight end David Njoku. After all of the trade rumors and demands in the past, he has become a huge piece for the team’s offense.
So far this season, Njoku has racked up 34 receptions for 418 yards and a touchdown. He has begun showing signs of the star potential that the Browns have seen in him all along.
According to a report from ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Njoku’s ankle injury does not look serious. That is huge injury news for the Browns, who could potentially have him on the field in Week 8 on Monday Night Football against the Cincinnati Bengals.
While the Browns may not be able to turn things around this season, they still have the pieces to contend in the future. If Watson comes back and plays to his full potential, the offense could take a big leap forward.
Njoku is just 26 years old and is a matchup nightmare for opposing defenses. Standing in at 6-foot-4 and just under 250 pounds, his size is nearly impossible to defend. The numbers he has put up this season should continue moving forward.
Expect to see more updates on David Njoku as the week progresses. Hopefully, he will be back on the field and ready to roll for the Browns by Monday night.
