With a late change in quarterback after Andrew Luck retired, a subsequent shift in offensive approach and six missed games while he was not fully functional in a few others, it’s no wonder T.Y. Hilton had the worst year of his career in 2019. He did merely tie his career-low for touchdowns (five), but 45 catches and especially 501 yards were the worst marks of his career.
When he was theoretically healthy, Hilton had 30 receptions for 306 yards and five touchdowns over the first five games. That projects to 96 receptions for 979 yards and 16 touchdowns over 16 games. The scoring pace was not sustainable, especially for a guy who has never had more than seven touchdowns in a full season. But even eight touchdowns would have made him WR12 in full-point PPR fantasy scoring, and WR15 in half-point PPR.
Rumors of Philip Rivers’ demise have been overstated, so Hilton is getting an upgrade under center this year.
Prior to last season, he was no worse than a WR2 in fantasy every year of his career. Here are three fantasy football predictions for Hilton in 2020.
