No. 4: Young Playmakers
The Colts have plenty of youth on both sides of the ball ready to make an impact. From receivers like Chester Rogers, who is finally healthy and ready to prove himself, to Deon Cain, the rookie who came to training camp and immediately made a name for himself.
Oh yeah, let’s not forget about wide receiver T.Y. Hilton.
Hilton had a “down” year in 2017 but still made the Pro Bowl, and that was without his starting quarterback. At running back, Marlon Mack is ready to emerge after playing his entire rookie season with a shoulder injury. Robert Turbin, Jordan Wilkins and Nyheim Hines join Mack in a young, talented backfield. The Colts also arguably have one of the best tight end duos in Jack Doyle and Eric Ebron.
On defense, EDGE Jabaal Sheard is coming off his best season. Sheard, Tarrell Basham, Kemoko Turay and Tyquan Lewis make for a young, talented group with plenty of potential to breakout in 2018. The Colts selected outside linebacer Darius Leonard early in the second round of the NFL Draft, and he brings versatility to the defense. Not only can he cover tight ends and running backs, he uses his speed to track down the ball in the backfield and blow up plays early on.
In the secondary, safeties Malik Hooker and Clayton Geathers will be back on the field, and cornerback Quincy Wilson is ready for his second season in the NFL.
The Colts have a plethora of young talent on both sides of the ball ready to breakout in 2018.
