Colts could be a landing spot for Von Miller in free agency

The Indianapolis Colts are a team that could very well be serious Super Bowl contenders in the near future. As of right now, they appear to be a piece or two away from being that kind of team. Could Von Miller be a potential fit that would help take them to that level?

Miller has been a superstar for the Denver Broncos throughout his career. He has been one of the NFL’s most feared pass-rushers and has given opposing quarterbacks a ton of nightmares. However, after an injury ended his 2020 season before it began, he is set to hit the free agency market.

Back in the 2019 season with the Broncos, Miller racked up 46 total tackles to go along with eight sacks and two defended passes. Throughout his career to this point, he has 106 sacks, which shows how dominant he has been.

For the Colts, adding to the pass-rush would make their already elite defense much more dangerous. Can you imagine a rush consisting of Justin Houston (who would need to be re-signed), Von Miller, and DeForest Buckner? That would be nearly impossible for opposing offensive lines to stop consistently.

FanSided predicted that Miller will end up signing a one-year contract with the Colts in free agency. That’s just a prediction, but it is one that makes sense.

If Miller is forced to leave Denver, he will want to sign with a team that can offer him a chance to compete for a Super Bowl. The Colts are that kind of team. Chris Ballard will also have quite a bit of money to work with and is always looking to add star power that fits the franchise vision.

Miller may not be a super long-term option for the Colts, but they would not need him to be. They would likely sign him to a two-year contract, just like they did with Justin Houston. He would have a chance to get his career back on track and also compete.

While the Colts make a lot of sense for Von Miller, they won’t be the only team interested. Miller is well-known around the NFL and plenty of teams will have offers available for him.

Expect to hear a lot of rumors surrounding Miller this coming offseason. He will be a coveted free agent and the Colts could be a team to keep a close eye on.
