Colts Have Some Interest In Free Agent WR Jarvis Landry

The Indianapolis Colts entered the 2023 offseason with a few needs to address. They haven’t been big spenders, laying low for the most part and adding depth to their roster, not going to the top of the market.

One of the positions of need at the onset was wide receiver. Parris Campbell and Ashton Dulin were both free agents, leaving a void behind Michael Pittman Jr. and Alec Pierce. The team was able to re-sign Dulin, but Campbell departed, signing a one-year deal with the New York Giants.

Dulin has some exciting potential given his blazing speed. If the Colts can get their deep passing game operating again under new head coach Shane Steichen, Dulin can be a situational weapon. At the very least, he provides capable depth and impact on special teams.

But, relying on Dulin to step into a starting or top-three role right away would certainly be risky. The team could still use more help at the top of the depth chart, especially with Campbell leaving after a career season.

Free agency was thin at the wide receiver position this year, but there are still a few solid veteran options that remain. One player to keep an eye on for the Colts according to a former NFL executive that spoke to NFL Analysis Network is Jarvis Landry.

“After losing out on Parris Campbell, the Colts are exploring the wide receiver market. One intriguing name to keep an eye on is Jarvis Landry. They have an eye on him.”

Landry is coming off the least productive season of his career in 2022 with the New Orleans Saints. He was plagued by injuries, appearing in only nine games, catching 25 passes for 272 yards and one touchdown. All three stats were career lows for the LSU product.

It was not too long ago that Landry was one of the premier slot receivers in the NFL. While he may have lost a step or two at this point, he brings a lot to the table for a team to still like. His skill set and physicality are something the Colts would benefit from given their penchant for running the ball.

Landry would provide a reliable, steady set of hands for whoever ends up at quarterback in Indianapolis for the 2023 season.
