Colts predicted to sign star WR Allen Robinson in free agency

Heading into the NFL offseason, the Indianapolis Colts are going to be a team to keep a close eye on. They have a ton of cap space and are close to being a Super Bowl contender. One major need is finding help at the wide receiver position, which is where Allen Robinson could come into play.

Robinson would be a huge get for the Colts. He would instantly take over as the No. 1 wideout for new starting quarterback Carson Wentz. If the Colts could re-sign TY Hilton, they would have a dynamic one-two punch, with second-year receiver Michael Pittman Jr. also expected to take a big leap.

While it may seem like a long shot, ESPN has predicted that the Colts will end up signing Robinson this offseason.

The Colts are among the league leaders in cap space, and Robinson would supply Wentz with an elite No. 1/perimeter target. With Robinson looking to join a contender, it’s a terrific match.

Last season with the Bears, Robinson put together another impressive year. He caught 102 passes for 1,250 yards and six touchdowns. Those numbers show why the Colts should be all-in on signing him.

Can you imagine what Robinson could do with a quarterback like Wentz? Granted, some believe that Wentz is overrated, but others remember how good he is capable of being. He would be a much better signal caller than either Nick Foles or Mitchell Trubisky were last season.

Being able to compete for a Super Bowl would also be a huge thing for Robinson. He has been stuck in mediocrity over the last couple of years with the Bears. Chicago was a playoff caliber team, but nothing more.

There will be plenty of teams after Allen Robinson this offseason. Among them are the Jacksonville Jaguars, Bears, and Miami Dolphins. Plenty of other teams will come forward with offers as well.

Expect the Colts to be one of the more aggressive teams trying to sign him in free agency. They need a star receiver and Robinson fits that need. It seems like a match made in heaven.
