Hilton Will Have Over 100 Receptions
Traditionally, Hilton has been more of a downfield receiver. A guy known for making the big play. However, that could be changing in this new offensive scheme brought over from Philadelphia.
While I still expect Hilton to play a huge role in stretching the field, I believe we will see him work a lot more underneath than we have in seasons past. The Eagles offense stressed putting the ball in the hands of playmakers and letting them work. That is exactly what Hilton is: a playmaker.
His average yards per reception thus far in his career is 15.8 yards. That is quite an astounding statistic when you really think about it. For a player of his style, I don’t believe that number is unsustainable. However, this new offensive scheme won’t be centered around the big play.
The new offense will feature a more short to mid-distance passing attack than Colts fans have been accustomed to in the past. This will allow Hilton to work underneath and thus increase his total receptions. He has not yet really flirted with 100 receptions, but this could be the year.
