The Indianapolis Colts came into the NFL offseason needing to find some help at the wide receiver position. While they lost Devin Funchess in free agency, they were able to find a potential steal in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft. That potential steal comes in the former USC star Michael Pittman Jr.
Pittman was one of the wide receivers that rose up draft boards dramatically throughout the NFL Draft process. After a big 2019 season with the Trojans that saw him rack up 101 receptions for 1,275 yards and 11 touchdowns, the Colts were happy to take him No. 34 overall.
Looking ahead to the upcoming 2020 NFL season, there are lot of reasons for optimism in Indianapolis. Chris Ballard attacked this offseason aggressively and brought in names like Philip Rivers, DeForest Buckner, Xavier Rhodes, and Trey Burton.
If the Colts want their offense to reach its full potential, they are going to need their rookie wideout to step up immediately. T.Y. Hilton is still one of the best wideouts in the game and the Colts are hoping for a big second season from Parris Campbell. Add in a good rookie season from Pittman and Indianapolis would be sitting pretty.
All of that being said, let’s dive in and take a look at what to expect from Michael Pittman Jr. in his rookie season with the Colts.
