With the 2021 NFL trade deadline coming up quickly, quite a few teams around the league are looking at what could be available on the market. One name that has come up quite often has been Houston Texans wide receiver Brandin Cooks. Many teams would be interested in acquiring Cooks, but could one of them be the Kansas City Chiefs?

Andy Reid and company are always looking to add more firepower to their offense around Patrick Mahomes. Cooks could be another addition with the hope of adding another dynamic playmaker alongside Tyreek Hill.

Sporting News mentioned that the Chiefs should look to trade for Cooks ahead of the deadline.

The Chiefs are trying hard to find the ideal complementary wide receiver to Tyreek Hill between Mecole Hardman and Josh Gordon. Cooks, with his speed, quickness, hands, route-running and versatility, has produced on all four of his teams for a reason. He’s even getting it done with a bad QB situation in Houston.

Needless to say, the fit would be an easy one for the Chiefs to make work. Cooks is the kind of receiver that would fit perfectly into Kansas City’s offense. He’s a very similar player to Hill, although not even close to the level of receiver.

So far this season with the Texans, Cooks has played in all seven games. He has put up extremely quiet but extremely good numbers. Cooks has caught 45 passes for 502 yards and a touchdown, even without Deshaun Watson playing a single snap.

At 28 years of age, Cooks would likely welcome the opportunity to play for a contender. With the Texans wide open for business, the Chiefs should look into this option. If it only takes a late-round pick, they should jump at the opportunity to add another potential impact player to their already loaded offense.

Brandin Cooks may not be a superstar, but he is the kind of player that can take an offense to a new level. If the Chiefs are all-in on this season, this is the exact kind of move they need to try to make.
