Could The Jets Look To Trade For Star WR DK Metcalf?

Things did not go as planned for DK Metcalf and the Seattle Seahawks during the 2021 NFL season. In fact, things fell apart a bit and the team missed the playoffs. The same could be said for the New York Jets, who need to make some moves to get back into contention.

Rumors have been circulating that the Seahawks could look to deal Russell Wilson in the fairly near future. However, new reports have stated that Seattle is planning to keep Wilson. Could they consider trading Metcalf?

Heavy.com shared some speculation that the Seahawks could consider moving Metcalf this offseason. They also shared speculation that the Jets could make a move for the star wideout.

The Jets desperately need a true No. 1 wide receiver and Metcalf would be a young and dynamic option for the Gang Green passing attack. The green and white can be picky with what receivers they target considering the array of avenues at their disposal with the upcoming draft, free agency, and the NFL trade market.

Metcalf would be a massive pickup for the Jets. He would give them the true superstar wide receiver that they have been searching for over the last few years. New York would also be giving young quarterback Zach Wilson exactly what he needs to take the next step in his second NFL season.

During the 2021 season with the Seahawks, Metcalf struggled to get things going. Whether it was a change in his normal targets or simply not good play by the offense as a whole, things did not go well.

He ended up catching 75 passes for 967 yards and 12 touchdowns on the year. Those numbers weren’t horrible, but they certainly weren’t what fans and the Seahawks were expecting. Metcalf is capable of putting up much bigger production.

It would be interesting to see what the Jets would have to give up for DK Metcalf. They would love to get him, but it would not be cheap at all. This could be something to keep a close eye on this offseason.
