The New England Patriots are entering the 2021 NFL Draft with some needs, but they are in a position to fill them throughout the draft. A lot of the focus the remainder of the offseason should be to continue building the roster around quarterback, Mac Jones.

New England looks like they hit a home run with Jones when they selected him with the 15th overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. He was essentially a high-end game manager last season, as the Patriots will ask him to do more in his sophomore season.

Adding some more firepower to the skill positions would also help Jones’ development. The Patriots spend a lot of money in free agency to upgrade their wide receiver and tight end spots, signing Kendrick Bourne, Nelson Agholor, Hunter Henry and Jonnu Smith.

All four are solid players, creating a nice core with Jakobi Meyers and N’Keal Harry. But, they are lacking a true No. 1 option. If the draft board falls their way, they could find themselves in another advantageous position with the 21st overall pick.

Over at Sporting News, they believe that the board will break in favor of the Patriots. With their first-round pick, they are mocked Alabama wide receiver, Jameson Willams.

Williams was on his way to being the No. 1 receiver off the board in this year’s draft class before he suffered a knee injury during the National Championship Game. That injury knocked him down some draft boards, but the talent still exists.

The Patriots would be getting a steal as Williams is the best deep threat in this year’s draft class and possesses legitimate No. 1 receiver upside. He was dominant during the 2021 season, catching 79 passes for 1,572 yards and 15 touchdowns.

While Jones didn’t throw passes to Williams in college, it is never a bad thing adding more Alabama products to your roster. They know what it takes to win and Williams possesses all of the talents that the Patriots like in their wide receivers.
