One thing that hasn’t been talked enough about is the need to improve two facets of the Cowboys game. First, turnovers. The Cowboys have lacked in that department for years. Bringing in a player that’s played for Mike McCarthy in Green Bay like Al Harris will immediately improve the ball-hawking skills that these Cowboys possess.

The team let cornerback Byron Jones walk in free agency but were able to draft Trevon Diggs in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft along with Reggie Robinson II in round four. With the addition of two rookies, the Cowboys also bring back Anthony Brown, Chidobe Awuzie, and Jourdan Lewis. All players will were brought back because of their potential ability to take the ball away. Harris will get the best out of this secondary.

The Cowboys were at the bottom of the league when it came to special teams in 2019. There was no excitement or variety. Bringing on John “Bones” Fassel from the LA Rams will bring this to the next level. Not to mention he’s reunited with his kicker, Greg Zuerline. The Cowboys may have drafted Cee Dee Lamb to be their slot wide receiver but don’t be surprised if Fassel is able to obtain him for special teams as well. The Cowboys have plenty of speed on this 2020 squad, it just needs the right schemes and leadership to tap into their potential.

The entire Cowboys coaching staff was revamped by McCarthy. His choice to retain Kellen Moore was good from a familiarity standpoint and his results spoke for themselves. With an unprecedented training camp program ahead, McCarthy does have his hands full. However, it’s good to have your hands full with, on paper, one of the most talented Cowboys team’s in recent memory.
