The Dallas Cowboys have been relatively busy this offseason as they look to get back to the Super Bowl. Jerry Jones and company believe they are an elite contender heading into the 2023 NFL season and have made some moves to bolster those chances. One of those moves was adding veteran wide receiver Brandin Cooks to give Dak Prescott yet another weapon to work with.

Over the last year, the Cowboys have been connected to quite a few different wide receivers. Most notably, they were considered the clear-cut front-runner to sign Odell Beckham Jr., but clearly that did not work out.

Instead, they pivoted to Cooks, who has been a very consistent star throughout his entire NFL career.

Recently, Prescott took time to speak out and reveal his thoughts on his new target. It’s clear that he’s happy to have Cooks on his side.

“It’s exciting, I’ll say that. It was very exciting to throw with him today. The guy is different. That is real speed.”

Cooks is coming off another productive season, even though he played it for the Houston Texans. He ended up catching 57 passes for 699 yards and three touchdowns. Those numbers came in 13 games played and they show why the Cowboys wanted him.

At 29 years of age, Cooks is likely just as happy about the change in scenery. It had become clear that he was getting fed up with losing in Houston and wanted to play for a contender. Well, that opportunity has come.

Expect to see Brandin Cooks become a very integral piece for the Cowboys. Dak Prescott and Cooks should form early chemistry and be a dangerous duo to defend. Cooks could end up being the missing piece that takes the Dallas offense to the next level.
