Cowboys’ Mike McCarthy Receives Major Bombshell Report On Job Status

Mike McCarthy, Dallas Cowboys

The Dallas Cowboys have yet to make an official announcement regarding Mike McCarthy’s status as of Wednesday. Adam Schefter believes that this delay might actually work in favor of the head coach.

While many observers anticipated Cowboys owner Jerry Jones to swiftly make a decision following their 48-32 elimination loss to the Green Bay Packers last Sunday, Adam Schefter, during Wednesday’s NFL Live, speculated that the postponement indicates a stronger likelihood of McCarthy retaining his position.

“The longer this goes, I think the more the chances increase that Mike McCarthy might be safe and that Jerry Jones won’t do anything at all at head coach other than leave Mike McCarthy in place.”

Schefter pointed out that the organization is currently conducting meetings and exit interviews, and there’s a possibility that McCarthy might hold a press conference on Thursday.

This contrasts with the sentiments expressed on Sunday night. Following the surprising first-round upset, Schefter had reported that sources believed McCarthy’s fate would be heavily influenced by how the Cowboys performed in their last game of the season.

Unfortunately, the last game didn’t go well at all. Despite being significant favorites at home, Dallas found themselves trailing 27-0 in the second quarter. The Cowboys allowed an alarming 7.7 yards per play, and Dak Prescott’s two interceptions in the first half proved costly.

While McCarthy has guided the Cowboys to 12 wins in three consecutive seasons, the team has only managed one playoff victory during his four-year tenure. Jerry Jones has yet to provide clear indications of whether he is considering a change for the 2024 season.
