Dallas Cowboys wide receiver CeeDee Lamb has established himself as one of the best pass-catchers in the NFL since entering the league as a first-round draft pick back in 2020.

However, former NFL cornerback Richard Sherman is not buying Lamb as an elite wide out.

While Sherman thinks that Lamb is indeed a very good receiver, he does not think he belongs in the same conversation as some of the other No. 1 guys in football.

Sherman’s comments come after Lamb was held to four catches for 49 yards in the Cowboys’ Week 5 blowout loss to the San Francisco 49ers.

On the season overall, Lamb has logged 27 receptions for 358 yards and a touchdown. Oddly enough, 11 of Lamb’s grabs came in Dallas’ Week 2 win over the New York Jets. Otherwise, Lamb has recorded four catches in each of his other four contests.

The 24-year-old, who played his collegiate football at the University of Oklahoma, was selected by the Cowboys with the 17th overall pick three years ago.

He enjoyed an impressive rookie campaign, catching 74 passes for 935 yards and five scores. Then, the following year, Lamb showed improvement, snaring 79 balls for 1,102 yards and six touchdowns en route to a Pro Bowl appearance. The Opelousas, La. native then broke out in a big way last season, hauling in 107 receptions for 1,359 yards while reaching the end zone nine times.

Lamb is on pace for a slight regression this season, but he is still on track to have another Pro Bowl-caliber campaign.

To Sherman’s point, it may be a bit premature to put Lamb on the same level as some of the other top receivers in football, but calling a guy who racked up over 1,300 yards a year ago may be a bit harsh.

The Cowboys’ aerial attack has been struggling in general this season, as the club ranks just 20th in the NFL in passing offense.

Dallas is 3-2 and will look to get back on track when it takes on the Los Angeles Chargers next Monday.
