Dallas Cowboys: 5 Reasons They Will Win the NFC East

Kris Richard

The Cowboys best offseason acquisition isn’t even a player, it’s a coach. If you’re not familiar with the name Kris Richard, you may be more familiar with the unit he coached…The Legion of Boom.

The Legion of Boom was the nickname that was given to the Seattle Seahawks secondary during their prominence that was highlighted with a Super Bowl victory (48). The Legion parting ways brought Richard to the Cowboys this offseason. Richard is known as a coach who favors tall, lengthy defensive backs, who is a great teacher and brings lots of emotion on the practice field and on game day.

One of Richard’s first move as a coach for the Cowboys was to move safety Byron Jones to cornerback, which if you remember is the position he played coming out of UCONN. The reports coming out of training camp are saying that expected starting corners Chidobe Awuzie and Byron Jones are dominating practices in the new system, and Richard is bringing a lot of energy to this young group. Richard is also taking over as the passing game coordinator for the Cowboys, so expect a lot of new looks for this young Cowboys secondary.
