The NFL offseason has begun picking up speed from a player movement perspective once again and the Arizona Cardinals have helped that cause by releasing star wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins. A trade or release seemed likely, but now that move has actually come to fruition. With quite a few teams interested in signing the veteran wideout, one team to keep an eye on as a dark horse could be the Dallas Cowboys.

Jerry Jones and company have always been open to making a move to improve the team. They have never shied away from making big-time blockbuster moves.

According to a report from Cowboys’ reporter Clarence Hill Jr., the Cowboys are “definitely” an option for Hopkins as he tests free agency.

“DeAndre Hopkins worked out in Dallas the entire offseason. I know what he said on the podcast. I also what he said incessantly to people locally here in March. Cowboys would definitely be an option at the right price. It’s something they should explore. Dalvin Cook too.”

While the Hopkins news is obviously big news for the Cowboys, the tidbit at the end is interesting as well. Dalvin Cook could be another name to watch in Dallas.

Looking at Hopkins especially, the Cowboys would be upgrading their offense in a big way. They already traded for Brandin Cooks earlier this offseason and have both CeeDee Lamb and Michael Gallup on the roster as well. Can you imagine an offense with a talent like Gallup as the No. 4 option?

Dak Prescott would be more than thrilled with this kind of move. Hopkins is coming off of a bit of a down season with the Cardinals in 2022, catching 64 passes for 717 yards and three touchdowns. Those numbers weren’t up to par with what we’ve come to know and expect from Hopkins, but they aren’t horrible either.

If that’s a down season, a move to the Cowboys would likely increase the statistics in a big way. DeAndre Hopkins is still capable of being one of the most dangerous wide receivers in the game.

Expect to hear a ton of rumors and reports about Hopkins in the coming hours. He likely will find a new team very quickly, but there will be a ton of suitors. Don’t be surprised if the Cowboys throw their hat in the ring.
