Cowboys’ Micah Parsons Is On Pace To Make New NFL Record

Dallas Cowboys linebacker Micah Parsons has already stamped his name among the best defensive players in the NFL, but he could end up being much more than that when it’s all said and done.

JPA Football notes that Parsons has recorded two or more sacks in 28.6 percent of his games, which is the highest of any player in league history. The next closest? Hall of Fame defensive end Reggie White, who only did that in 21.6 percent of his contests.

Now, to be fair, White spent 15 years in the NFL. Parsons is only in his third season, so it’s entirely possible that Parsons slows down over the course of his career.

Regardless, Parsons is on an incredible pace and it highlights just how dominant he has been since joining the Cowboys as the 12th overall draft pick in 2021.

Parsons, who played his collegiate football at Penn State, immediately made an impact in his rookie campaign, rattling off 84 tackles, 13 sacks and three forced fumbles en route to a Pro Bowl appearance and a First-Team All-Pro selection. Then, last seasons, Parsons racked up 65 tackles, 13.5 sacks, three forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries and a defensive touchdown, making another trip to the Pro Bowl and notching First-Team All-Pro honors yet again.

Through two games in 2023, the 24-year-old has already logged seven tackles, three sacks, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery, so he is well on his way to making a third straight Pro Bowl as well as a third consecutive First-Team All-Pro selection.

Dallas has gotten off to an incredible 2-0 start, outscoring its opponents by a whopping score of 70-10. The club’s defense ranks No. 1 in the NFL, thanks much in part to Micah Parsons.

The Cowboys will look to improve to 3-0 when they take on the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday.
