Dallas Cowboys linebacker Micah Parsons was not happy with the officiating during his team’s loss to the Philadelphia Eagles last weekend, stating on his podcast that he felt there were some blown calls that made a difference in the game.

He went on to say that the NFL needs to become more consistent with things such as holding calls.

“If you’re gonna make calls you have to make calls everywhere, not pick and choose where to make calls,” Parsons said. “There were blatant, blatant terrible holding calls that I feel like should have been called.”

Parsons added that a good way to ensure consistency is to have more referees on the field.

“We need to have more refs,” Parsons said. “We need to have eyes out there because these calls are being missed in the game.”

The Cowboys lost to the Eagles by a score of 28-23, dropping them to 5-3 and knocking them two-and-a-half games behind Philadelphia for first place in the NFC East.

It’s not that Dallas played poorly. It actually outgained Philly 406 to 292 in total yards, had 27 first downs to the Eagles’ 20 and also averaged 5.8 yards per play. Philadelphia logged just 4.9.

Still, the Birds simply made more plays when it counted and were able to come away with a tight five-point victory. The Cowboys actually led 17-14 at halftime, but the Eagles responded with 14 unanswered points to take a 28-17 edge going into the fourth quarter.

It was a classic case of close but no cigar for a Dallas club that has endured far too many losses like this in recent history.

Micah Parsons totaled nine tackles and 1.5 sacks in the loss. On the season overall, he has registered 31 tackles, 7.5 sacks, a forced fumble, a fumble recovery and two passes defended. He was an early Defensive Player of the Year favorite after posting four sacks over the first three weeks, but he then went two straight games without a sack. He has since rebounded, recording sacks in three consecutive contests.

The 24-year-old is in his third season and made the Pro Bowl in each of his first two campaigns.

The Cowboys will take on the New York Giants this Sunday.
