Cowboys’ Offensive Star Gets Brutally Honest On Playoff Loss

This past season was supposed to be different for the Dallas Cowboys.

The Cowboys went 12-5, won the NFC East division title, boasted a dominant defense and housed an MVP candidate in quarterback Dak Prescott.

Dallas looked like a legitimate Super Bowl contender most of the year.

However, the Cowboys laid an egg in the Wild Card Round of the playoffs, losing to the Green Bay Packers by a score of 48-32. They fell behind 27-0 in the first half and never recovered.

Tight end Jake Ferguson spoke about the team’s postseason defeat this week, saying that Dallas simply needs to move on from the disappointment.

“You can’t look back and you know, have any sort of just ‘Oh, I made a bad play, so we lost,’” Ferguson said, via Kevin Patra of NFL media. “No, it’s just on to the next, it’s over with, so we played that game, clock’s zero, it’s time to move on to the next week. We’ve got to get ready for this OTA session coming up, and then also fall camp and just get ready so if we do get in this situation down the road again, where we take advantage and we aren’t really looking back, we’re just going straight through the wall.”

We have seen this same song and dance for the Cowboys a whole lot over the better part of the last three decades, as Dallas has not made it past the Divisional Round since January 1996.

There is no doubt that this current Cowboys squad is very talented, but there are still some clear holes on the roster, and unfortunately, Dallas does not have the necessary cap room to adequately fill them this offseason.

Still, the Cowboys remain talented enough as currently constructed to have the ability to make a legitimate run in 2024.

Ferguson had a breakout year this past season, hauling in 71 receptions for 761 yards and five touchdowns en route to a Pro Bowl appearance.

The 25-year-old was selected by Dallas in the fourth round of the 2022 NFL Draft.
