The New York Giants made a massive move on the offensive side of the football this offseason, acquiring star tight end Darren Waller from the Las Vegas Raiders. It was a move that came out of the blue and one that should help the team take another step forward. Many believe that the Giants could end up being a sleeper contender in the NFC.

Over the last few years, Waller has been a major threat to opposing defenses for the Raiders. Adding him to the offense will be a massive boost for quarterback Daniel Jones.

Just a short time into his tenure with the Giants amid OTA’s, Waller spoke out and revealed some intriguing early thoughts on his new team.

“As a player, I feel like a lot of places I’ve gone, you’re told to do things a certain way and you do those things. But here it’s like, they ask a lot of questions. They want to know what you’re thinking, what you want to do more.”

So what does that quote mean exactly? Quite simply, Waller is saying that the Giants’ coaching staff wants to hear from players and do what they can to put them in the best position to succeed. That approach to coaching is one that usually pays off in a big way.

During the 2022 season with the Raiders, Waller ended up playing in just nine games. In 2021, he played in 11. Injuries have been a bit of a concern, but a fresh start gives hope that he can get back to legitimate stardom.

Back in 2020, Waller racked up 107 receptions for 1,196 yards and nine touchdowns. The Giants don’t necessarily need all of that production, but even a good 80 percent of it would put their offense in a great position.

It will be interesting to see how Darren Waller performs in his first season with the Giants. He is clearly excited about the position he is in and New York is doing everything they can to help him get back on track fully.
