Davante Adams Doesn’t Hold Back On New Raiders’ Coach

The Las Vegas Raiders recently hired Luke Getsy to be their new offensive coordinator, and wide receiver Davante Adams is thrilled about the move.

While speaking on Getsy this week, Adams raved about Getsy’s ability to take notes from his players.

“I mean, innovation, [and] he’s the type of coach that’s open-minded,” Adams said, via Paul Gutierrez of ESPN. “He’s going to be open to hearing things from the veteran players that know how this thing works and the best way to do things. So a lot of different things, but just the open-mindedness and, like I said, that innovation to the offense and a good run-pass balance. And that’s what I’m used to, that West Coast style. Gonna be fun, getting to work on a new system, something that’s a little bit more familiar for us.”

Adams is familiar with Getsy from their Green Bay Packers days. Adams played for the Packers from 2014 through 2021, and Getsy served two separate stints filling a variety of different roles in Green Bay during that same time period.

Most recently, Getsy was the offensive coordinator for the Chicago Bears for the last two years.

Adams is getting set to enter his third season with the Raiders and is coming off of a 2023 campaign in which he played every game and caught 103 passes for 1,144 yards and eight touchdowns.

The 30-year-old was initially acquired by Las Vegas in a trade with the Packers back in March 2022.

Adams lit it up during his first season with the Raiders, hauling in 100 receptions for 1,516 yards and a league-leading 14 touchdowns en route to his sixth straight Pro Bowl appearance and third consecutive First-Team All-Pro selection.

Both of those streaks came to an end this year, but perhaps Davante Adams will renew his habit of garnering accolades with Getsy now in tow.

Las Vegas went 8-9 and missed the playoffs this past season.
