Denver Broncos: 3 Keys to Victory in Week 2 vs. Oakland Raiders

Continue Their Success of Rushing the Quarterback

The Broncos did a great job in Week 1 rushing the passer and making it very uncomfortable in the pocket for Russell Wilson. When you get in a QBs face and keep hitting him, most guys will get flustered. Pressure can also cause turnovers like it did last week for the Broncos.

This week they will need to continue their success with their pass against Derek Carr and the Raiders. Carr was only sacked once in last week’s game, but looked out of sorts after taking a hit from Aaron Donald early in the game. Donald sacked Carr, but was called for roughing the passer for hitting him below the knees. Despite it not being a sack, it made Carr get out of his rhythm the rest of the game.

The Broncos would love to do the same thing against Carr, causing him to make mental mistakes like he did in Week 1. Carr threw three interceptions, with one of them coming in the form of a pick six. Marcus Peters was the recipient of the errant throw. The Broncos would like to make it another week where Carr struggles to get into sync with his wide receivers.

The Broncos can use big plays from their incredible defense to give the offense good field position. If the Broncos can collapse the pocket and get after the QB, they’ll be sitting pretty in Week 2.
