Forcing Watson and Co. Into Turnovers
Another thing the Broncos cannot afford to do is let Houston quarterback Deshaun Watson and the rest of the Texans’ offense get into a rhythm. The Texans played at a high level against the Dolphins last week, and Watson was the biggest standout.
Houston’s second-year signal caller completed 16 of 20 passes for 239 yards and five touchdowns against Miami. He also threw no interceptions for the second week in a row after tossing at least one pick in each of the Texans’ first six games.
Other Texans to watch include star wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins (six catches for 82 yards and two TDs) and running back Lamar Miller (18 carries for 133 yards and a TD). However, it is up to Denver’s defense to keep those types of players from getting things going.
The Broncos also need to improve their turnover differential, as they have just one more takeaway (12) than giveaways (11). Their own quarterback, Case Keenum, already has 10 interceptions, three more than he threw all of last season.
